08/24/18: Governor Murphy signs bill concerning disqualification from unemployment benefits. This law corrects an anti-worker provision pushed by Governor Christie into a conditional veto in 2010. Unfortunately, unscrupulous employers used this broad definition of “misconduct” to deny unemployment insurance (UI) benefits to certain workers and to save themselves money by reducing their own UI contributions. 07/03/18: Two Pro-Labor Unemployment Benefit Bills Pass Both Houses of the Legislature

A-3861: Provides unemployment benefits to workers on strike under certain circumstances.

A-3871: Corrects a flawed definition of “misconduct” that was used to routinely deny workers unemployment benefits.
